The purpose of this F105 Web Site is to account for all 833 F105’s built and to remember all who flew those Thuds in combat over North Vietnam. Many didn’t make it, and I dedicate this effort to them. For those who did survive their combat tours, it provides a bitter-sweet memory jogger, and will allow them to re-live some of their own experiences if they wish.
I flew 100 Wild Weasel Missions over Southeast Asia during 1967-68. My EWO was Ralph W. Stearman, Best Bear Ever.
I want to give credit to three main sources of data for the database. The first is to W. Howard Plunkett for his very patient help he gave me, and for his thorough illustrated history of the F-105, named F-105 Thunderchiefs. The second is to Chris Hobson for his book on fixed-wing air losses, named Vietnam Air Losses. And the third is to John M Campbell & Michael Hill for their fine photographic book with pictures of nearly all of the F-105s built, named ROLL CALL THUD. Most of these data came from those three sources, and I have added some first-hand knowledge from my own Wild Weasel combat tour at Takhli, Thailand in 1967-68. Everyone is encouraged to fill in any missing,
or incorrect data, which will add to the historical value of this record.
I have made every effort towards accuracy, but mistakes and omissions are inevitable, so please, call or send me Email, with any corrections and/or missing data you might have.
If everybody helps, we can improve the quality of the database, so thanks in advance for submitting errata.
